George Hartnett Funerals
Having studied music in my earlier life, I spent a number of years working in a variety of music industry areas - retail, academy, sales management, performing and tuition.
As a result of the tragic death of my brother at 20 years old, I was forced to take stock of life, of what is important, and how to navigate through the trials we refer to as grief. Following on from that incident, I engaged in study in these areas by covering youth suicide, grief, loss and other associated issues.
The funeral industry conducts, and is involved in, a number of community based support and training activities across Australia all year. I now find myself operating the oldest established, and Australian owned, funeral home on the Peninsula, George Hartnett Funerals, and in addition to carrying out funeral service I now conduct similar training and community activities which assisted me many years ago. The nature of care and support that we provide families is very close to my heart, as well as a passion that fuels and drives my business motives.
Having now worked in funeral service for almost 15 years I have learned that there is no right or wrong in how we grieve, say goodbye and celebrate a person's life. Whether it be in church, chapel, crematorium, graveside, or a sunset drenched beach, we all grieve differently and approach the funeral service in different ways.
Our role as funeral directors is to understand this dynamic, and to guide, assist and support families through the legal, practical, religious, emotional and spiritual elements associated when someone dies.
I adore what I do, which can sometimes be a misunderstood statement to make. As so much of my role is caring for living people that have lost someone that they love, I find it very hard not to be inspired by the human heart.
George Hartnett Funerals are available 24 hours of every day, are part of a network of Brisbane funeral homes allowing us to help families throughout the region, and employ caring staff with families of their own to assist.
